Ponniyin Selvan -1 (PS-1) movie is a story of the Chola dynasty, how their own people tried to oust their leader and bring someone else to the throne. Are their attempts successful? that you will get to know watching the movie. Story has a long duration of 2 hour 50 minutes and the storyline of the film makes the film very boring. Stoy is not engaging with the audience. Seems like the film is not made for the common man to understand. Too many big characters in the film. Some times, it is difficult to understand which character is on the side of the Cholas, which character is not on the Chola’s side.
Film first half is boring, film second half has little action and drama. That is why the film is good. Big cast is there on this project. Good star cast and their acting is also good. Songs one or two are nice in this film. Cinematography of this film is good. Locations are beautiful and so are the cinematic shots. Music is nice in this film. Background music is good. Acton scenes and stunt sequences wise this movie is also good. Good movie overall apart from the story. Ponniyin Selvan 01 has a a reference of history. Storyline is utter dissapointment in this movie. I didnt like this movie while watching it for the film stars. I rate ths movie only 2 stars out of 5.
