Jackie Shroff spoke about how the way audiences view cinema is changing. He said in a recent interview to a leading magazine that the number of OTT platforms are rising and it is good news for filmmakers, actors and all those associated with the making of films. There are numerous opportunities for filmmakers to showcase them on different OTT platforms.
He recalls his time when there were no cinema halls for ‘good films’. Films like Saaransh (1984), Arth (1982). Aakrosh (1980). They used to be played in the morning. Early morning shows used to take place and ‘we used to go early morning to watch them’.’There were no cinema halls for these kind of films’.
Now on OTT, he says that they’re lucky because you have plaform for different kind of films so everyone can watch them. He also said that due to OTT platforms, everyone is getting work and every kind of film is being made, so there is so much content out there.
He recalls the time seeing the transition how cinema is changing, from street plays, to stage plays, to musicals, to theatres, to now OTT. He said now audience can watch their movie or TV show from the comfort of their phones. ‘Emotions don’t change even when platforms do so let’s take it as a blessing’ . He thanks OTT platoforms for giving a new opportunity to films.
