Director Anurag Kashyap says Hindi films are not rooted in culture, that’s why they are not working in Box office

Director Anurag Kashyap today launched the trailer of his upcoming thriller film Dobaaraa starring actress Taapsee Pannu. Makers of Dobaara are releasing the film in theatres first and not on OTT first.

Director Anurag Kashyap said that it is a very confusing atmosphere to release the films on theatre because only south films are doing well in box office.

He was asked the reason why only South films are running successfully in Box office and why not Hindi films are working well. Director Anurag Kashyap said Tamil films, Telugu films, Malayalam films are all rooted in culture, that is why they are working well. Hindi films are not rooted in culture, that is why they are not working well. He also said that Hindi film  actors are the one who mostly speak in English and they are doing Hindi films.

Anurag Kashyaps upcoming directorial venture Dobaaraa releases on theatres 19th of August. Today at the trailer launch of the film, Producer Ekta Kapoor was also present. Director  Anurag Kashyap said that the lead actress Taapsee Pannu could not join the trailer launch as she is currently shooting for Shah Rukh Khan upcoming film Dunki.
