Benaras is a new movie by Kannada cinema dubbed in Hindi also. Stars newcomer Zaid Khan and Sonal Monteiro in lead roles. They have done an okay job in the movie. They both look good in the movie. But acting performance could have been better by the star cast. Achyuth Kumar performance was good. Sujay Shastry role was also good in the movie to bring a comic element to this film.
Benaras is a love story film having a little bit concept of time travel and also some new concept of narcosynthesis. You will get to know while watching the movie. Story seems little stretched in the movie. Movie duration is 2 hour 29 minute in this movie.Could have been cut short to 2 hours duration. Songs and music are nice in the film. Dubbing is also nicely done in this film. Songs are soothing in this love story film. FIlm climax is also interesting. Film has it own level of intensity. Some emotional elements are also there in the movie. Some of them you might not feel convincing. Story seems slow paced-thhis is the biggest drawbacck of the film.
FIlm locations are mostly set around Benaras, UP which you will find beautiful in this movie. The temples, holy river Ganga, ghats and all are beautiful seen in this film. The sancity of these holy places are also well maintained throughout the film. Film expectations were high from my side before watching the film. I did like the film but this film could have been better overall. From my side, I rate this movie only 3 stars out of 5.
