Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has been awarded with the prestigious Priyadarshini Academy Smita Patil Memorial Award for her contribution to Indian cinema at an award function organized today on the 38th-anniversary celebration of a leading NGO, Priyadarshini Academy.
Alia Bhatt was chosen for the award for the diversity of characters she has played on screen and her contribution to Indian cinema. She is also worthy of being celebrated and serves as an inspiration for India’s youth, said one of the organizers of the award, Mr.Nank Rupani. Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani of the Hiranandani Group is also an organizer of this award function along with Mr. R A Mashelkar, former Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Mumbai.
The award was presented to Mrs. Alia Bhatt at an online session graced by the Union ministers of India, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Mr. Piyush Goyal, and former Union Minister Mr.Suresh Prabhu along with Mr. Rahul Narvekar (Speaker, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly)
Speaking at the occasion actress, Alia Bhatt thanked the organizers for presenting her the award and called it a tremendous honor for her to be there at the event. She said, she will cherish the moment for the years to come.
She also said that Indian cinema has an incredible legacy of arts and she is ‘eternally grateful’ that her work is a part of it.
‘Cinema teaches us the importance of believing in the beauty of dreams, to follow them with dedication and humility, and never quit’, she added.
The Priyadarshini Academy Awards have been presented to national and international recipients annually based on their contribution to their respective fields. The organizer of this award, The Priyadarshini Academy is a non-profit, socio-cultural and educational organization started with the idea of ‘service to humanity’ Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani is the chairman of this Academy and Mr. Nanik Rupani is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus.
