Ajay Devgn upcoming sports drama film Maidaan is based on the story of Indian football. Its trailer was out on Thursday. In the trailer we see Ajay Devgn playing the character of Syed Abdul Rahim, Indian football coach who led the Indian football team to victory at the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962.
The trailer begins with Ajay Devgn’s voiceover where he speaks about the condition of Indian football team them, where he sees and empty football stadium, eyes filled with determination. He sees hope in the future of Indian football, saying, trust me, this is going to be the beginning of the golden era of Indian football.
After that her gathers the courage to create a team that will compete with the others countries of the world Priyamani plays his wife character in the film. Gajaraj Rao also plays an important role in the film. In the trailer we see his character questioning Ajay Devgn’s characters decision to include football players form the slum areas in the team.
The trailer sees some visuals from the football field during the match and it ends with the defining moment where Ajay Devgn is speaking to the team in a dressing room.
Ajay Devgn in his caption wrote, while sharing the trailer, that this is a story of a team that carved its legacy with every step. This is a story of a man who devoted his life to football and one Maidaan where the world witnessed it all. Calling it a ‘golden era of Indian football’
