We saw the trailer of upcoming film Amar Singh Chamkila which got released on Thursday. In it stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles performing the characters of Chamila and his wife. Both Chamkila and his wife along with collaborator Amarjot Kaur used to make music.
Chamkila was called the ‘Elvis Presley of Punjab’.His initial days, when he was a nobody, days when he he used to work as a worker making socks in a cloth mill. How he discovered his calling: music and how he grew in his music career, how he became popular, how his untimely end came. We see in the trailer.
We see in the trailer criticism to also Chamkila’s songs. Yet he never gave up on his songs and music. Stories of such people passionate about what they like doing are very rare and this is a different kind of film coming in Hindi cinema. It will premiere on Netflix April 12. Kumud Mishra also stars in the film. This sis a story of a rise of a talented singer who became the king of the hearts of Punjab through his music . What is different is that the husband wife both used to sing together, both had a liking for music.
The film’s main actor Diljit Dosanjh himself is so talented in voice and music. Parineeti Chopra, the other actor of the film is also good in singing.
This film is directed by Imtiaz Ali. Music composer is the legendary AR Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
