DAMaN actor Babushaan Mohanty recently spoke about the role he played in his hit movie DAMaN. The movie is in Odia language, getting popular day by day through word of mouth, getting housefull shows within Odisha and outside the state (in India). Babushaan Mohanty plays the lead role in the film of a doctor who turns as a saviour to the malaria prone village totally disconnected from basic ammenities.
Babaushaan Mohanty who is mostly known for his roles in love movies or comedy movies is going to be seen in a serious movie this time.This film is based on a real life incident. Babushaan Mohanty says that in Odisha cinema, people have him mostly in films havin a love/romance or comedy genre. This role is a different for him. He says he was tired of getting the same roles of love and comedy. He wanted to somedthing different . That is when DAMaN was offered to him.. That’s when he decidetd to jump into this opportunity.
This film does not have a love angle, nor does it have any item song, quite different from contemporary films in Odisha cinema. The film also stars along with him DIpanwit Dashmohanptra and others. There are some local people also who got to be part of the acting in this film. What was his expereicne working with them? Babushaan Mohanty says, these pople (tribal People) are very simple people. ‘They have their different way of life. Working with them was a different experience. Infact, most of them performed much better than professional actors. They just said their dialogues without any worry or anything in mind.’
Talking about the character he playes of Dr Siddharth, whose original name is Dr.Omkar Hota in real life, Babushaan Mohanty says, Dr. Omkar also watched the film and he too liked Babushaan Mohanti’s perofrmance in the fim. He siad that Dr. Omkar didn’t have any complaints for him regarding the film. Daman movie is working well in the box office. Talking about it, he says that he thanks the audience for showering all the immense love for the film. Daman movie is soon going to release in Hindi.
