Will Smith movie Emancipation releasing this December, first one post Oscar slap incident

After the incident this year where Will Smith got angry and slapped Chris Rock for the negative comment hailed at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith at the Academy Awards function, Will Smith’s first movie ‘Emancipation’ is coming out this year. Release date of the movie is December 2 in theatres followed by streaming on Apple TV+ on December 9.

Emancipation is a story of an enslaved person going through all the hardships to reunite with his family. This movie is based on a true story, inspired from the 1863 photos of a man named Peter beaten mercilessly on his back while being a slave. It got published first on Harper’s Weekly, became popularly known as ‘Whipped Peter’, higlighlted the attrociteis faced by slaves and pointed out the opposition of barbaric acts in slavery. Will Smith is going to play that lead character of Peter in the film. This film is going to be directed by Antoine Fuqua.Billie Collage has written the film and the movie is produced by Todd Black, Joey McFarland and Jon Mone. $120 million is expected to be big budget of this film.

The film shooting has been done last year 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Movie is going to release this year.

Movie first screeening was held this week in Washington. Will Smith was also part of the screening occasion.
